Home Turf 44th Ave one end to the other.
Well, travel has been restricted with the pandemic and all. In past years the start of a travel part for The Art of Things would be somewhere far afield, like Paris, London, or Rome. But I will not let that stop us. So is the spirit of things the first posting will be my home turf. After all there are favorite places and spots that are my daily and weekly go to places.
What makes a place interesting and fun? It is not just the tourist type things. Those things are nice too, but it is the everyday places and things that makes us want to return again and again. After you see the Roman Coliseum once, maybe twice, will that be somewhere you visit on a new trip? Likely not. It is the favorite pub in London or that corner café in Paris we always look forward to visiting again.
I have several pubs in Central London that are those places for me. But, back to the Home Turf.
In my town of Wheat Ridge here are a few of my favorite spots I do to.

Edwards Meats
12280 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
I have been around the country and of all those other places the butcher shop I have been to is about a mile from home. It is not a big place, but they seem to have somehow fit a lot of products into such a small retail space. It is, however, the meats (and some seafood) that makes it great. The quality is amazing and there is everything from beef to kidneys.

Rickoli’s Craft Beer
4335 Wadsworth Blvd, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
One thing that Colorado has a lot of are craft beer places where someone started by doing some home brewing and got so good at it, they opened a beer house. Rickoli’s is one such place. Rickoli’s is a pleasant brew pub in the center of town. They produce an array of different beers, Ales, and Stouts, a selection that will likely have something for everyone. Their Vanilla in yo Rye pairs great with cigars!

El Cid’s Tobacco and Cigars
6690 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Just like having a corner neighborhood bar, having a good cigar shop (assuming you like cigars), is nice. These days there are many retail shops that you can order cigars online and have them shipped to you. But it is nice having a shop close by where you can drop in and find something interesting. And in an increasingly impersonal world, having someone know you and remember brands you like, it a rare gem. The have a membership lounge which anyone can use if you buy $20 or more of cigars. Sadly, the owner recently passed away. He was a super nice man. His daughter and her husband are keeping his dream alive.
That is, it for now. Three of my favorite places in my home tuff, my go to places. In the future I will post new articles and YouTube videos of places and spots around the US and International cities. These places with include London, Paris, Odessa Ukraine, and more. Stay tuned.
