Feeling Left Behind with All the Options in the World in Your Pocket

When I graduated from high school, maybe you went to college, got a degree, and started a career. We all mostly worked for someone. Our box was defined for us, and the rules well known. Few of us started a business or a company. Life seemed to be simple and comfortable.

Today we hear so much about groups of people who feel left behind. As our digital online-cloud age has been matched with changes to global economic structures, daily life can seem like a roller coaster with rockets.

How can we keep up?

In many ways we have it much easier because so many tools are there for us. Go back 10 years and did we have

1. Smart Phones

2. App’s that do almost anything you need

3. Information at our finger tips

4. Social Media

5. Online and Cloud Everywhere

Today you can learn any new skill you want and find all kinds of resources to do that, and all on your phone or other mobile device. Today we have digital nomads, individuals and teams of people, having an idea and going off somewhere to make something out of it. And they do so without having to think much at all about how to get the tools to do that. They simply pick a location and start.

It has never been easier to just start. Today you just need an idea (which everyone has) and the desire to act on that. Every possible tool you need is available to you. And literally on a mobile device in your pocket, strapped to your wrist, and in a tablet/laptop.

The one thing that many will not like is these are times where we have to act on our own. And that change came without us wanting it to.

But we can cry in our beer or take a second and think about something we think would be cool, take out your phone, and open the app store. Perhaps you will see a path to building that cool thing you thought of?
