Sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar - Until it is more

One of the challenges during the pandemic when we have/had to stay at home, is everything is the same every day. Even for creative types like me, the days can run together and seem the same. And the condition of cabin fever starts to be real. But there are a few things I found to do that helped give me a change from the routine.

The first is (and yes it is odd to start in these times) I took up cigars. But the real point has been the hobby is so different and out of the normal for me that it helped. I normally like to read, paint, play guitar, watch movies, and tenor banjo; and other things. And though that was cool, taking up cigars ended up being a real break from the other things I did and broke up a week of Corina Tuesdays (or at least the weeks seem like they are).

I watched YouTubes, read a book, purchased cigars, and once or twice a week smoke a cigar sitting in my garden (general Friday and Saturday night). And I found when I watched YouTubes about cigars, that was so new for me that it was a mental break from all my normal things and the virus impact.

And it takes time to smoke a cigar so it is very relaxing.

Now I am not praising the specific thing. What I am offering is learn something completely new for you, but something you can do at home. Watch YouTube’s about it. Buy books and study it. It can be baking if you have never done that before. You can build bookshelves, or model ships. It does not matter, just that you enjoy it and it is a new thing.

I also, started to on every Friday pick something fun to cook, have a pre-supper cocktail, open a nice bottle of wine, and watch classic movies. That too help break up the week. And these things help my focus during my week of Corina Tuesdays.

For everyone looking for something to help relieve the many things these times bring up. Think of some new things to do that you can do at home. It will be different and you will focus on it more that you normal interest will do. I read somewhere that to improve creativity and thinking we should read a few magazines on topics we do not normally read. That triggers new parts of the mind and helps.

So apply that to your week.
