Mixed Message and the Quiet American

Some may have read the book the Quiet American where the central character creates more harm because he wants to make things better, but does not get how bad the other people are. That would be bad enough, but what would happen if his message was inconsistent and mixed? Would the results also be mixed?
This can happen to leaders in an organization. They can have a place they want to move everyone to, and have the best of attentions. But again, if their message is not clear and does not take into account what the communities values, biases, and believes are, the good they are trying to do can make things worse not better.
People are a function of their own thinking and feelings. And they mostly think they have things right and the rest of us see it just as they do. and this is true with most of us.
So you can want to do good things, but it must be clear, and you have to take into account what the community thinks and values, and what each them thinks does not match you.
